With
a unique balance of safety, style and power, the 2008 2009 Volvo XC90
burst on to the premium SUV scene last year. In its traditionally prudent
way, Volvo carefully measured the timing and technology of its newest
model, unveiling it as the next-generation of sport utility vehicles.
The 2008 2009 Volvo XC90 introduced five automotive firsts: Roll Stability
Control (RSC), an inflatable side curtain airbag for all three rows of
seats, an integrated sliding center booster seat for children, seatbelts
with pretensioners in all seating positions and the availability of a
Dolby 5.1 Pro Logic II surround sound stereo system with a 305-watt Alpine
amplifier and 12 premium speakers.
The design of the 2008 2009 Volvo XC90 translates into interior comfort and efficient performance. Its unitized construction increases torsional rigidity and helps to reduce noise, vibration and harshness. Volvo also mounts the XC90's engine transversely. This increases room within the passenger compartment for an optional third-row of seats, boosting seating capacity to seven. Not only do T6 AWD models have more power and standard all-wheel drive, they are also given a higher level of luxury than their 2.5T counterparts. Some of their exclusive items include leather upholstery, an 8-way power passenger seat, a power sunroof and an AM/FM radio with an in-dash 6-disc CD changer. The XC90's profile resembles that of a BMW X5, to the point where it almost looks like Volvo was copying. Yet some unique lines are apparent when you look closely. The XC90 roofline is almost dramatic, raking upward from the windshield to its high horizontal plane, and then tracing the arcing shape of the roof rails (which have no crossbars and can't carry much of anything until you buy the optional bars to make them a roof rack).
