2012 BMW X5 Review and History

by Auto Design on August 8, 2011

The BMW, as a whole, has quite a distinguished history among car buyers. The X5 was released as the BMW Company’s own version of the Sport Utility Vehicle. It was a luxury crossover medium-sized SUV which was based on the E39 5 Series. Among its features, one can find a straight-6 as well as a V8 engine. The NWM X5 took some of the features it has from the Range Rover like the Hill Descent Control. However, unlike the Rover, X5 was developed and designed to be a car dedicated to sporting activities. The year 2004 saw the advent of new headlights for the BMW X5. The company also added a number of exterior colors, upgraded the engines, and included a four-wheel-drive system to the vehicle. They also added a few measures to ensure that the vehicle gained and regained traction very quickly. Bluetooth was incorporated in 2005 and the BMW X5 has continued its journey from there. Now, consumers face the new 2012 BMW X5 with much excitement.

Most of the cars nowadays are equipped with power windows, door-locks and remotes for better security. The same is true for the BMW X5. In addition to these, X5 adds high-beam and low-beam Xenon headlights with auto-leveling, seat memory, remote keyless entrance and more. In the area of entertainment, BMW X5 accessories won’t lose to their competitors. A 10-speaker stereo and cassette, leather upholstery, a wood trim, and rain-sensitive windshield wipers are all part of the vehicle’s charm. The X5 was also able to add microfiltration capabilities to its automated climate managing system which most consumers would consider a great plus.

Aside from the standard features offered in each of the BMW X5 models, there are a few more optional add-ons for potential buyers of the 2012 BMW X5. For example, buyers can choose to avail of the Cold Weather Package which would contain headlight washers and a ski bag. Door-mounted airbags for rear side-impacts, Park Distance Control and a navigation system are also available. Sport seats, suspension and steering wheels are also optional for buyers.

The BMW X5 2012 model boasts a 32-valve double overhead camshaft V8 engine with a 4.4-liter capacity.  It is capable of releasing 315hp at a rate of 5400 revolutions per minute and is capable of a 324 lb-ft torque at a rate of 3600 revolutions per minute.  The Steptronic 6-speed automated transmissions system joins with the engine to give the car the ability to offer a superb fuel economy system. As such, the BMW X5 can run at 16 mpg in city streets and 22 mpg on highways.

The 2012 BMW X5 has outdone itself in providing safety measures for all occupants including features improving brake control, stability, seatbelts, airbags, Hill Descent Control, head protection and more.

The Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for the 2012 BMW X5 starts at roughly $48,000 and can go up as much as $65,000 depending on any optional additions.
